Wrigley Field Information:
Wrigley Field is located in Chicago, Illinois and was built in 1914. This makes this venue one of the oldest in the entire country. Over the many years that Wrigley Field has been in existence it has hosted thousands of sporting events. Each and every year thousands of people show up at Wrigley Field to have some fun, and soak up the rich history of this venue.
The Chicago Cubs are the only team that plays their home games at Wrigley Field. In the past other professional franchises have also used Wrigley Field, but none since the Chicago Sting of the NASL in 1979.
Although most people know this venue as Wrigley Field, in the past this was not always the case. From 1914 to 1920 it was known as Weeghman Park and from 1920 to 1925 Cubs Park. After the 1925 season it was renamed Wrigley Field and has been this way ever since.
Wrigley Field may be one of the smallest parks in the MLB at a capacity of 41,118, but this does not stop it from offering a great experience to both the players and fans.
In addition to the regular Cubs games that are played at Wrigley Field, many television shows and movies have also been filmed at this park. Some of the more popular ones include The Blues Brothers, The Natural, A League of Their Own, and The Break Up.
With so much to offer it is safe to say that Wrigley Field will be around for many years to come. Even if it is one of the oldest parks in the league, the fact of the matter is that its rich history and many benefits make it quite popular among fans and players. This is why so many people travel to Wrigley Field each year to see the Cubs play.
