Dodger Stadium Information:
Dodger Stadium is located in Los Angeles, California, and is one of the largest outdoor stadiums in the country. In addition to its large size, Dodger Stadium also has a lot to offer in the way of fan experience and benefits. Perhaps this is why this stadium has bee popular with fans from across the world ever since opening in April of 1962.
At this time the Los Angeles Dodgers of the MLB is the only team to play its home games at Dodger Stadium. In the past the Los Angeles Angels also used Dodger Stadium for home games, but the last time for this was 1965. Since the Dodgers are the only team to use this venue on a regular basis it is able to stay in tip top condition at all times. This goes for the playing surface and the actual building itself.
Although Dodger Stadium was built more than 40 years ago, it still has one of the larger seating capacities in the league. For baseball games this venue can accommodate approximately 56,000 fans. While this is not the largest stadium in the league, it is far from being the smallest. Another huge benefit of Dodger Stadium is that it was built with the ability to expand to 85,000 seats if need be!
Dodger Stadium is favored by pitchers thanks to large foul territories down both lines, as well as deep fences. This allows pitchers to get away with mistakes that would usually cost them in other ball parks. Some of the great pitchers to play at Dodger Stadium include Sandy Koufax, Don Sutton, and Orel Hershiser just to name a few.
In addition to regularly scheduled baseball games other special events and concerts have also taken place at Dodger Stadium. This includes mass by Pope John Paul II in 1987, and concerts by performers such as Elton John, The Beatles, David Bowie, Michael Jackson, and many more.
