Rogers Centre Information:
Rogers Centre is a multipurpose stadium located in Toronto, Ontario. While this is the official name of the venue, many fans and media still call it by its old name, SkyDome. With a large seating capacity and many modern features such as a retractable roof, Rogers Centre is one of the centerpieces of the city. Although many newer venues have been built in North America since Rogers Centre opened in 1989, it is still one of the best for sporting and other special events.
At this time there are two primary tenants that call Rogers Centre home. They include the Toronto Blue Jays of the MLB, and the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL. From 1995 to 1999 the Toronto Raptors of the NBA also played its home games at Rogers Centre. One of the biggest benefits of this venue is its seating capacity. For baseball games the capacity is 50,598, for football 45,000, for basketball 28,708, and for concerts up to 55,000.
Rogers Centre has hosted many great concerts over the years. Some of the big name performers who have stopped by this venue include Madonna, Britney Spears, Garth Brooks, The Rolling Stones, and many more. With such a large seating capacity Rogers Centre is always rocking every time a concert comes to town.
Many special events and exhibitions are also held at Rogers Centre due in large part to the 143,000 square feet of floor space. In the past, events have included auto shows, ice events, circuses, and much more.
Rogers Centre hosts hundreds of events each year making it one of the most popular venues in Canada. With so much to offer it is safe to say that this stadium will be hosting events for many years to come.
