Oakland Athletics Information:
The Oakland Athletics are a Major League Baseball team that competes in the American League West Division. The Athletics, also known as the A's, have been playing in Oakland since 1968. Before they settled down in Oakland, the franchise was based in both Philadelphia and Kansas City.
The Athletics play their home games at McAfee Coliseum, and have been doing so since making the move to Oakland nearly 40 years ago. Although this stadium is a bit long in the tooth, it still has a lot to offer both teams and fans. But even though this stadium has a long history, it appears that the Athletics will be moving out of it by 2010 at the latest.
Most people are not ware of the fact that the Athletics have won nine World Series Titles. These came in the years of: 1910, 1911, 1913, 1929, 1930, 1972, 1973, 1974, and 1989. As you can see, the Athletics were known as one of the most dominant teams of the early 1970's.
Many great players have donned the Athletics jersey over the years. Some of the greatest players in franchise history include Reggie Jackson, Catfish Hunter, Rollie Fingers, Dennis Eckersley, and many more.
All in all, the Oakland Athletics stand for success and integrity. This explains why the people of Oakland and the fans love this team so much!

McAfee Coliseum Information:
McAfee Coliseum is located in Oakland, California, and is one of the only stadiums in the country that is used for both professional baseball and football games. This stadium has been hosting games 1966, and it does not appear that this is going to change anytime in the near future. Although McAfee Coliseum is a bit long in the tooth, it still has a lot to offer fans and players.
There are two primary tenants that currently call McAfee Coliseum home. They include the Oakland Athletics of the MLB, and the Oakland Raiders of the NFL. The capacity of this stadium is 34,077 for baseball games, and 63,026 for football games. The reason for this large discrepancy is due to the fact that the entire third deck is always closed for baseball games.
Although the formal name of this venue is McAfee Coliseum, a lot of the locals and fans refer to it as nothing more than "The Coliseum." Throughout the years this venue has hosted many great events, and has seen hundreds of great players come through. This holds true with both baseball and football players.
There have been talks about a new stadium being built for these teams, but every time this comes up the deal seems to fall through. So until the teams and the area can agree on something, everybody will have to settle for McAfee Coliseum. And when it comes down to it this is not all that bad!
