The San Diego Padres are a Major League Baseball team that competes in the National League West Division. Although the Padres have only been a member of the league since 1969, they have had quite a bit of success over the years. This has led to the people of San Diego falling in love with the team, and people from all over the country keep a close watch on how they perform year in and year out.
The Padres play their home games at PETCO Park. They began doing so in 2004, and this venue is surely one of the nicest in the game. It is modern enough to suit the needs of every fan, and the layout of the venue is beautiful.
Believe it or not, the Padres have never won the World Series. Most people find this surprising because of all the success the team has had in the past. Although they have never won the big one, they have had success on the field. The Padres won the National League Pennant in 1984 and 1998 as well as their division in 1984, 1996, 1998, 2005, and 2006.
Many great players have competed for the Padres. A few of the more memorable names include Tony Gwynn, Randy Jones, Steve Garvey, and Dave Winfield among many others.
Even though the San Diego Padres have yet to win the Fall Classic, this has not stopped thousands of fans from showing up at the park each time that they have a home game.

PETCO Park is located in downtown San Diego, California, and is one of the newest stadiums in all of Major League Baseball. Construction for this venue broke ground in the summer of 2000, and by April of 2004 it was ready for action. The total construction bill for PETCO Park was more than $450 million. This alone explains why PETCO Park has so much to offer, and is one of the nicest stadiums in the league.
The San Diego Padres of the MLB is the only primary tenant of PETCO Park. Additionally, the USA Sevens rugby tournaments will also be played at this stadium every year starting in 2007. When building this park the Padres decided to move in the direction of many other teams, and keep capacity on the low site. PETCO Park can accommodate 42,445 fans, making it one of the smaller parks in the league. This was a good plan as average attendance for the park usually comes in at approximately 36,000.
One of the nicest things about PETCO Park is all of the concession stands, restaurants, and bars that are offered. And if you are a fan visiting one of these locations you never have to miss the action. PETCO Park is equipped with 244 HD televisions and more than 500 regular units. This makes it easy to see the game no matter what part of the park you may be in.
With so many benefits, fans rave about the experience that PETCO Park has to offer. Anybody who is lucky enough to have the chance to see a game at this venue should take advantage. There are not too many stadiums in the league that have more to offer fans than PETCO Park.
